Financially speaking, 2009 couldn't really be worse than the last three months, right? Well, let's just say we're not taking any chances. In fact, we're going to trick out our entire office (and our apartments, too) with lucky stuff to get all that good juju flowing hardcore. To double your luck, we recommend picking up a few of these positive talismans for someone special, too. Because, really, what better way to say you care about the solvency of your loved ones than with an old batch of vintage Iranian lottery tickets?

Whether it's vintage or brand-new, there's something totally festive about a velvet dress. For many, it sparks memories of Christmas pageants and visit's to Santa's lap. For others, it harkens back to a certain prom dress with a fish-tail train. Well, totally provoked by all the delicious velvet we saw on the fall/winter runways (thanks Anna Sui), we decided to troll for bargain beauties on eBay. Here are some of our top cheapy-chic finds.
One of our favorite things to hunt for on eBay, flea markets, and vintage stores alike, is old-world drinking gear. Nothing is prettier and more festive than a colorful Atomic-patterned shaker or a set of gorgeous little low-balls. And really, it would be hard to score a better gift for the guy or girl who loves to entertain (or just have a perfectly shaken martini all on their lonesome). Here are a few of our favorite boozy finds. If you snap them up now, dad can definitely open it up by Hannukah.
Yes, it's time to get out your feathers and patent-leathers. And with everyone still going ape-shit over all those glorious Burberry feather dresses, we've decided to implement our own hunt for some pretty winged wonders.

In these times of scrimping and saving, it came as a bit of a shock to the American people that the executives of the Big Three automakers flew into Washington to ask for a several billion in bailout dollars on private jets. The nerve of some people. Well, you're better than that—you fly coach. We figure that if you have to muddle through this tough economy in steerage, you might as well look and feel like you just got out of the Admiral's Club or that you're only flying commercial because the Lear is in the shop. Enjoy these high-flying eBay finds and happy travels.

Vintage Samsonite Hat Box: Just in case you're bringing along your fancy hat collection, make sure they travel in safety—and style.
Vintage Hermes Scarf: An accessory inspired by old European travels, even if you're just headed to L.A.
Ghurka Duffel: A classic, plus you and your man-friend can take turns using it.
Vintage Burberry Trench: Possibly the best cover-up ever invented—in theory, you could be wearing sweats underneath (not that you ever would!) and you'd still look impossibly chic.
We know, we know. She doesn't look a day over 40. But the extremely gorgeous Lauren Hutton is 65 years young today (who doesn't want her beauty secrets?). As an homage to the woman who pretty much defined sexy '70s and '80s style, we decided to root around for some finds that seemed worthy of the woman who made Charlie! famous and gave the term "John" a whole hot new meaning.
Cover Girl: One of her earliest covers, Hutton personifies early sixties American chic on the front of French Vogue. Love the braid-band. This cover is hot too. Pretty racy for The Post, no?
American Dream: We bet she would wear these Geoffrey Beene cowboy boots from the '70s today. So would we.
Money, Honey: In The Gambler (1974), Hutton played Billie, James Caan's strappy-dress wearing lady friend. This silver jumpsuit would definitely work at the craps table as well as the dancefloor.
Shady Woman: She definitely could have kept a low profile sporting these in American Gigolo (1980).
Lady in Red: The belted trench is a Hutton staple. In red, it gets a little twist.
