Our Fashion Week Photo Diary puts the camera in the hands of our favorite designers for intimate look at what it takes to roll out a collection. For our first installment, Jeremy Laing takes over The Pipeline.
Left: "Just in to New York from Toronto, with the collection in tow, and off to a V Magazine party. Posing here with Anthony and Cleopatra at a pop-up Halloween store. Legendary!" Right: "Here, I'm fitting a show look. The top is in shredded silk, achieved through embroidered slashes, which I had done in India, and the pants are in a stretch digital jacquard that I'm in love with. It looks like old-school Tetris, or 8-bit graphics. It's a total rock-bitch look, which is a bit of a new direction for me, but it totally fits the mood and concept of the show."
"Here I am finishing up the sketches for my sales list. This way it's got a bit more character than with technical drawings. The challenge is to make them as clear as possible"

"Fittings started today. Here, we're checking out the shoes for the show. I like that they're tough, but also kind of easy and springy. We're working in a nude patent pump with some of the lighter-colored looks as well as these black lace-up sandals.
Left: "Just got my belts, this one decorated with a band of Swarovski Crystal webbing, and I'm allocating them to their outfits." Right: "The run-of-show backstage at Bumble & bumble, where my show is
taking place."
"I'm really pleased with the slashed fabric I had embroidered in India. The idea came from grape bags, which are slit so as to have a flexible shape, without actually being made in a stretchy material. I'm doing some dresses that fit on this principle."
"I avoid pre-show stress by doing ironing touch-ups on the samples, and though I'm always to nervous to sit and eat a proper breakfast on show mornings, I can manage intermittent snacks of crackers and cherry tomatoes."
"After my 9am show I was back at the showroom by 11, and was ready to go back to sleep, except that now we have to start selling. If it weren't for the insane schedule, the following would be true…"
"Yeah, right."
