On the Scene: Liz McClean

A big nod to the '90s is the only way to describe McClean's time-warped spring/summer show. Mixing combat boots with silk minis and gothic sheers, the designer was able to re-create her high school days with ease, even going as far as using her high school mix, which included Nirvana and the Stones, of course. Spotted in the crowd among the sea of stylists and writers were Waldo , and theme-appropriate former Hole bassist Melissa Auf der Maur.

On the runway, McClean's mix of transparent floor-length dresses and motorcycle jackets created a feeling of effortless cool anyone could pull off. And the blur between masculine and feminine definitely punctuated the 90s vibe McClean was going for. The McClean peace sign temporary tattoos and Obama pins paired with dressier outfits were two accessories we foresee being popular for fall. One show-goer trend we're not loving: sunglasses as headbands (especially when indoors). We're all for versatility but think there are more fitting ways to pull back your hair.lizmcleanrunway2.jpg
