Runway Report: Jeremy Laing

Despite an early 9 am showing and a somewhat sleepy audience, Jeremy Laing was in full form this Tuesday morning. Laing is known for his architect's sensibility, and this show was no exception—billowy, cocoon-like dresses and skirts draped every model's form perfectly. But the real showstopping effect was the fascinating razor cutout patterns seen on numerous pieces, which changed shape and form as the wearer moved. Artful deconstruction was the name of the game—with closer inspection, a raindrop pattern seen on silk dresses turned out to be hundreds of tiny pinpricks. A minimalistic palette of greys, whites, and blacks was made more interesting by bursts of yellow and glittery crystal accents, while slouchy tuxedo jackets and vests in geometric prints were sure to be crowd-pleasers. With looks like these, no attendee could have been bored.
