After You're Out: Life Beyond "Project Runway"

timgunn.jpg As Season 5 of "Project Runway" heats up (catch the second episode tonight on Bravo), perhaps a look backward will foretell what the newest crop of bright-eyed contestants has in store after they receive their final, parting hug from Heidi Klum. Jay McCarroll, fleshy flâneur and Season 1 winner, teaches at Philadelphia University and has his own QVC line, dark horse Wendy Pepper sells her line exclusively in renowned fashion destination Middleburg, Virginia, and who could forget Santino Rice, the 6'5" man with an up-do from season 2? Now our favorite bearded agitator is designing packaging for Camel cigarettes and building a brand "based on luxury and exclusivity." Quite an act to follow for this season's hopefuls. With new contestant Blayne Walsh hot on the heels of Season 4 winner Christian Siriano—trying to make "girlicious" this Season's "fierce" is no easy task—Season 5 will certainly be something to watch. Who knows—America's next QVC phenom could be made right before our eyes. (Seattle Post Intelligencer)
