An Innocent Look at History's Greatest Bombshell Before She Exploded

Thank God for those diligent photo researchers at Life. In the process of digitizing their enormous archive, the grunts in the basement of the once-vaunted photo magazine found some touching, unpublished pictures of Marilyn Monroe captured on the cusp of her fame. Romping around a Los Angeles park back in 1950, the starlet was snapped by photog Ed Clark, fresh faced and in natural daylight. It's a beautiful look at the original blond bombshell before glam, success, and its less desirable elements got a hold of her. The pics are true treasures, not just for the moment they preserve, but for that darling "MM" monogrammed top she wears and the high-rise, high-cut shorts she sports. This, friends, is how summer is done. (Life)
