The Top 10 Frightening Halloween Fetes in NYC

While there's plenty to be scared of on Halloween, there's nothing more frightening than having to resort to attending your ex-boyfriend's house party for lack of a better option. Instead of bumming on a stoop with a draught of pumpkin ale (or for you stoop enthusiasts, in concordance with), we've combed through our inboxes to bring you the very best Halloween parties happening in NYC. From a 3D laser show to a dirtbike death-fest (and plenty of dances and raves in-between), this is all you need to know if you find yourself all dressed up on the 31st and have nowhere to go. Here's our hit-list for the eve.
1. Halloween Evening by The Smile
What's Happening: An it-list of all of Manhattan's downtown babies with DJs Ash Carter, Matt Creed, Harley & Cassie, and Chrissie Miller. Get your costume judged by Terry Richardson, Jenn Brill, Charlotte Ronson, Peaches Geldof, and Lazaro Henandez. Also, did we mention that it's sponsored by Hornitos tequila?
Invite Situation: Entrance with physical invite only.
10 p.m. - 3 a.m.
2. Vice Magazine's 1994 Halloween Party
What's Happening: Vice's big ol' anniversary party (Happy 15th, dudes! Now, go get your driver's permit!) cost around $250k to put on. What'd that buy you? Free food, booze, and a skating ramp.
Invite Situation: Entrance with a physical invite only.
10 p.m. - 4 a.m.; 96 N 10th Street, Brooklyn.
3. Dirt-Deth Rally
What's Happening: An early-bird party that includes none of your geriatric activities. There's heaps of Caribbean jerk chicken and beer to preface their main event: Racing tiny dirtbikes and throwing pumpkins at one another.
Invite Situation: RSVP at rsvp@dethkillers.com.
4 p.m. - 10 p.m.; 261 Moore Street, Brooklyn.
4. Halloween at the Park
What's Happening: Paul Sevigny, Jesse Marco, and DJs Harley and Cassie will spin tunes for a big, boozy night to remember.
Invite Situation: RSVP to info@lolanewyork.com.
9:00 p.m. - 4:00 a.m.; The Park, 10 Avenue between 17 and 18th Street, NYC.
The Overlook Hotel with Katie Gallagher
5. What's Happening: Celebrate Mike Nouveau's birthday with Susie Bubble, Seven NY, Stylesightings, Archetype Showroom, Tommy Saleh, and Katie Gallagher, and later, take in a 3D laser show provided by Nomi from Hercules & Love Affair. Don't own a pair of 3D glasses? Fret not, party things. They'll provide them for you!
Invite Situation: RSVP to events@grandlife.com.
10 p.m. - Late; The Tribeca Grand, and The Overlook Hotel, 2 Avenue of the Americas, NYC.
6. Ghostrider, A Halloween Dance Fiasco
What's Happening: Lazer rock, New Jack Swing, Hip House and Acid Traxxx. If you like to dance, then why not do it in a costume down in Brooklyn?
Invite Situation: Open.
10 p.m. - 4 a.m.; 236 Troutman, Brooklyn.
7. Maryam Nassir Zadeh Halloween
What's Happening: Anton from No Ordinary Monkey, Andre from Bumrocks.
Invite situation: $5 with RSVP at http://www.maryamnassirzadeh.com/.
10 p.m.; 139 - 145 Rivington Street, NYC.
8. Dia De Los Muertos Fiesta by Screaming Mimi's
What's Happening: If you're not done raging, here's something to keep you going until the start of the workweek.
Invite Situation: RSVP at rsvp@screamingmimis.com
Sunday, November 1, 11 p.m. - 4 a.m.; 1 Oak, 453 W 17th Street, NYC.
9. Halloween Prowl Night
What's Happening: What's more Halloweeny than Blackout—the bar started by Oak NYC owners. Shake your stuff with the black-and-drapey set to Kim Ann Foxman from Hercules & Love Affair, Max Wowch, and Runaway. Free vodka from 10-11 will help you make the joint's namesake proud.
Invite Situation: Open.
10:00 p.m. - 4:00 a.m.; Blackout Bar, 916 Manhattan Avenue, Brooklyn.
10. Chipotle's Boo-rito Day
What's Happening: Wrap yourself in tinfoil (or if you're more creative, dress up as their pico de gallo) and get a free burrito. Not quite a party, but it could be a swell fiesta in your belly.
Invite Situation: If they have a no shirt, no shoes policy, we guess that admittance probably relies on your having a shirt and shoes.
All day; All Chipotles.
