Into the Deep End: Topshop Dives into McCarren Park Pool

Topshop, the British fashion retailer soon opening shop in Soho, is handing out some neighborly goodwill by subsponsoring (their verb) the McCarren Park pool parties starting July 13. Now we know that some of the "Defend Brooklyn" crowd in our audience are already grinding their teeth (relax, people). Before you go casting aspersions against a multi-national for sponsoring your favorite summer pool rave, just take a moment out to consider the sunny side.
Not only will there be a photo hut so you can create a permanent memento for you and your sun-blistered, dance-happy friends, Nicky Digital will also be taking street snaps throughout the pool, and there will be a contest to win a $1,000 dollar shopping spree for you and $500 for two of your mates (one guess at which store). In any case, the sweaty, grimy, sexy pool parties have always been a good place to meet (and slam into) new people. Come along and introduce yourself to Topshop (and the various Pipeline staffers in the crowd).

Scarf? Hood? Who Cares! These Ain't Your Lunchlady's Snoods
When we first heard the word snood, we thought it was some poor marketer's attempt to combine snuggly-scarf-hoods, and would join shacket, slanket, and skort in fashion's awkward S-word lexicon. It turns out that snoods have been around since the...
