Magnetic Feets: Stephin Merritt, The Shoe

MERRITT0922.jpgLeft to right: Stephin Merritt, the musician, Stephin Merritt, the shoe.

Stephin Merritt, the brains behind the Magnetic Fields, is one of those indie music vets that, like Conor Oberst, always have people arguing. Is he an asshole, or just odd? Is he a talented songwriter, or a talented thief? Is he a self-conscious hipster, or just a slob? Well, these new shoes named after and dedicated to Merritt by French brand Bluedy aren't going to answer any of those questions, but are sure to provoke more. Are they sharp or a little too styled?
Do they have anything to do with the boat-shoe wearing tunester, or are they are a little too fashion-forward for the college-radio diva? Are we to expect a type of loafer dedicated to Robert Schneider? We're as confused as you. (Drowned in Sound)
