Number (N)ine Plummets To Zero: Another Sad Close

The Tokyo-bred brand Number (N)ine is disbanding, its two stores shuttering. Takahiro Miyashita's spring '09 collection was light and cheeky—colorful wigs, dandyish cropped pants, vests and neckerchiefs gone weird—but it's dark times now. The Fall '09 collection (characterized by somber colors, tapestried blazers, rumpled cream button-downs, and odd beekeeper type veils) was the last for the brand that started a dozen years ago. Sayonara, as they say.
