Open Call: Supima Cotton Beckons to Aspiring Designers

Supima1117.jpgWhile Harvey Weinstein battles out the future of Project Runway with Bravo and Lifetime in the ultimate network tug-o-war, what's an aspiring New York designer to do? Well, American cotton producer Supima is hosting its second annual Open Call for Designers at the Thompson Hotel in SoHo on Thursday, November 20 (4pm to 9pm) and Friday, November 21 (10am to 1pm) at no entry fee or cost. Contestants are asked to bring a women's evening wear sketch, their portfolio, résumé, and a garment that they have designed and sewn. Following the review of each attendees' work, 25 to 30 designer finalists will be narrowed down from the masses, eventually leading to a runway showcase. Need I invoke Sir Tim Gunn's fashion call to arms? No: you know what to do.
