Rei of light: H&M Reveals The Complete Comme des Garçons Collection

cdg0930a.jpg

Thanks to Nitrolicious, we finally got to see the full results of what avant-garde Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo cooked up for the folks over at H+M. Although Kawakubo had to reign in some of her more outlandish inclinations (Lumps and Bumps, anyone?) for the commercial retailer, there are still hints of typical Comme des Garçons quirk. There is a prevailing theme of polk-a-dots and her signature asymmetrical cutaways throughout the collection and also some mouth watering must-haves like jodhpurs and black drop-crotch shorts. The polk-a-dot weekend bag is downright whimsical, and makes us wish that we could have gotten some more accessories out of the collaboration. The mens' collection is a bit more subtle but maintains that Comme des Garçons charm with angled piping detail on a blazer, and graphic patchwork looking button-ups. After peeping everything, we have to say we are itching to swing by our nearest H&M to fight the throngs who will, be clamoring (and possibly fighting) over these pieces. (Nitrolicious)
