Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down: Oak's Bond Age on Bond

For some, the word "bondage" might conjure up frightening images of pleather get-ups and creepy video stores. But for Oak, who opened their Bond Street location earlier this year, it's a word that's more inspiring than abhorrent. To celebrate Fashion Week, Oak has invited some of its favorite designers, including indie superstars like Vena Cava, Philip Crangi, and Black Sheep and Prodigal Sons to explore their inner kinks and create limited-edition pieces evoking the idea of bondage for their limited line and associated show, "Bond Age." Naughty.

Of course, the project is about more than leather and chains. With new nearby fashion boutiques opening in the area every other week, one could suggest that all the various odes to S&M could be a tongue-and-cheek way of "tying" the neighborhood together. Of course, a little old-fashioned bondage fun never hurt anyone either (except when they want it to.) The special collection will be available online and in the Bond Street location exclusively from the 8th to the 11th. So take some time out of poring over Fashion Week looks or dashing to shows to shop this oh-so-special collection. Just remember your "safety word."
Full list of designers involved: Oak, Phillip Crangi, Vena Cava, Complex Geometries, Filippa K, A Peace Treaty, Aesa, Alex and Chloe, Antoine Dom, Bess, Boyfriend, Brian Lichtenberg, Carlos Campos, Cavern, FORM, Gar-de, Jeffrey Campbell, Julian Red, LD Tuttle, Maharishi, Obesity and Speed, S2VS, Wrath Arcane, Yarnz, Andrea Buzyn, Eairth, Unconditional, Eugene Tsai, Black Sheep and Prodigal Sons, Crate, Freemont, Corpus, Harmon, Hood by Air, Hyden Yoo, J.Lindeberg, Jason Nevikov, Orthodox, Public School, Trastaverine.
Oak is located at 28 Bond Street, New York, 212-677-1293; www.oaknyc.com.
