Tokyo Takes Manhattan! Japan Fashion Week Comes Stateside

japan-fashion-0109.jpg It's no secret, we have a total crush on Japan: the shopping, the street style, the avant-garde designers—it's all enough to make us want to jump on the next flight to Tokyo, if not for the inconvenience factor. But now Tokyo is coming to us—by way of a group show, that is. That's right: StyleFile reports that Japan Fashion Week is bringing 13 of its top designers (including G.V.G.V, sold at beloved boutique Opening Ceremony) across the sea for a show that promises to woo even the most jaded of fashion-week-goers. And for those who won't be able to glimpse the goods front-row, you'll be glad to know that the runway looks go on display at various boutiques downtown (Destination, Issey Miyake, Theory, and Aloha Rag) after the show, and some will even be for sale. So If the tight economy is making you think twice about shelling out dough for another dress, just think: it's saving you a few thousand on a plane ticket, no?
