Very Critical Shopper: Mike Albo Lashes into Rag & Bone's Shop Hand
At this point, "Critical Shopper" in the New York Times Style Section has become required reading. Both Mike Albo and Cintra Wilson are far more quirky, knowledgeable, stylish, and financially practical than Alex Kuczynski, who seemed more focused on her amazing rich husband, amazing rich friends, and her amazing rich life and how amazing and rich it was to actually focus on whatever Madison Avenue boutique she happened to be Xanaxing her way through. Mike Albo, however, was so tuned in during his review of the Rag & Bone store on Christopher Street, he may have taken his first victim. Witness: "Approaching the register, the dude-clerk wouldn't look at me. Next to him was a pleasant smelling Diptyque candle. Like a gushing tourist, I tried to make conversation: 'Hey, what flavor is that candle?' I asked. 'Doesn't it just say on it?' he snipped, still refusing to look at me. Oh. I see how it is, Mr. Cool Guy… Maybe he was busy, or tired, or just broke up with his girlfriend, but I flared with loathing. While we love Albo, we have to wonder if there's not a soon-to-be unemployed mustachioed clerk who will hunting him down in weeks to come. (NYTimes)
