Viv Queen of Scots: Westwood Opens In Glasgow

westwood.jpgNews came down the pipe today, as it often does around here, that Madame Vivienne Westwood will be opening her first Scottish store in the Princes Square retail center in Glasgow. The 700-square-foot-plus site will carry her glam-punk lines including Anglomania, Man and Gold and Red. This news got us to thinking, naturally of course, of the various parallels between Westwood, the punk queen of British fashion, and Mary Queen of Scots, the quasi-Scottish, quasi-French, quasi-Catholic pretender to Queen Elizabeth I's crown. Of course, both were redheads. Both were reported dog lovers. Both were sharp, unconventional dressers. And, finally, both used to hang out with Sid Vicious and subsequently were decapitated. After a struggle for power late into the Tudor dynasty. Hold on. That's not right. (Herald UK)
