Who knew sparks would fly when Silvia Hillman and Katrin Wiens, the designers behind Pepper and Pistol, fused their divergent backgrounds in fashion and graphic design? In "Babylon," the title of their lush, seductive collection for summer '09, you can practically feel heat of the sun on poolside cement making us long for the dog days of July and August (it seems like just the other day, don't it?). Pieces like the Sugar & Rum Dress, A-Go-Go Skirt, and the Poolside Blouse mix tropical blues and greens with dashes of red and orange, and mini turbans reminiscent of 50s swim caps and recent Prada headgear add to the languishing summer splendor. Even as the mercury drops, these looks have us thinking about hitting the pool.
