Crack is Wack: The New Hair Trend That Isn't

thecrack.jpgYou're probably looking at the photo to the left and wondering, "What the fuck is that? No, really, what the fuck is that?" Well, ladies, that is new trend in hairdressing posited by representatives of Asha SalonSpa in Chicago, an otherwise classy and reputable looking enterprise. Either a skin-bearing slash or, as pictured here, a contrast-dyed mini-hawk, "The Crack" is a small channel carved out of the back of a perfectly innocent head of hair. ("1-inch wide and three inches long right at a woman's hairline," according to the detailed, instructive one-sheet). Says SalonSpa stylist, Andres Malverez, "This look is going to be big because due to its subtlety of being hidden under the hair, when the crack is exposed, it offers a complete surprise. It's like a woman dressed in a business suit, you'd never know if she was wearing sexy lingerie underneath her clothes." We prefer to think of it as like a man dressed in a soiled trench coat—you'd never know that he was wearing nothing underneath. But, whatever.
