Into the Wild! Spot and Stalk Our Top Six Street Style Snappers!

Try if you will to remember a time pre-Street Style blogs…yes, when life was easy and getting dressed for Fashion Week didn't require multiple trips to Opening Ceremony and refills of Percocet. From Garance and Craig to Tommy and Pete, our favorite street-stalking snappers have really made it impossible not to scrutinize our outfits daily. But well, we love it, and we know you do, too. That's why we've assembled the ultimate backgrounder on fashion's MVP of street photographers (besides The Sartorialist, who you already know so well!)—they're the folks you want to be noticed by, but, truth be told, it helps to notice them, too. Where they prowl, who they hunt, and how they like to shoot…our cheat-sheet may not guarantee a spot on Jak & Jil, but it will make you ready for anything.

The Hunted: Models Off Duty.

Background Check: One day in Paris he was inspired by a stylish couple walking their equally stylish cream-colored Shar Pei and was compelled to start snapping. He launched his blog Altamira NYC in 2007, which has since distinguished itself with its focus on models. Other clients include Teen Vogue, Elle Germany, and Style.com.

NYFW Habitat: Outside a show at least three hours before it begins, style hunting near the backstage entrance and after-hours at the Ford models party.

Sound Bite: "My ultimate goal is to get a model comfortable enough to explore those aspects of herself that she's kept locked away. If I can get her to experience that side of herself in front of the camera, we both win."

Weapon of Choice: A Canon EOS 5D Mark II.

Street Seen! London Street Style Gives Brick Lane an Indie Makeover

london-street-style-brick-lane-1.jpg

Curry may have put London's Brick Lane on the map, but for the sartorially inclined with more than chicken tikka masala on their mind, it's all about the street style here. And on no day is that truer than on Sundays, when the street transforms into an impromptu catwalk and market thanks to spill-over from the Sunday UpMarket housed at the Old Truman Brewery, along with assorted clotheshorses selling their closet castoffs for next to nothing. On a recent—and all-too-rare—sunny summer afternoon, we spied Lissy Trullie moptops, dusty English Rose floral prints, slouchy jumpsuits, high-waisted everything, and a splash of '80s decadence. Behold, a few favorites...

Copenhagen Street Style Snaps Up the Best Local Looks at Fashion Week

There's no doubt about it: Scandinavians have a great sense of style. So, we're always eager to see what our friends Jenny and Søren from the fantastic site Copenhagen Street Style are gathering up during their local travels. As you can imagine, Copenhagen Fashion Week draws out the very best of the Street Style lot, so we asked our dynamic duo to choose their favorite looks from around town during the shows. With New York Fashion Week right around the corner, you know we're taking notes!

Veneda: Photographed outside the Brickism opening, she managed to wear not one but three of the most hyped trends at Copenhagen Fashion Week (zipper-details, black slouchy bag, and the Acne Atacoma wedges), all at once without looking like she's trying too hard. Her "over-knee" socks (which isn't really over-the-knee because she has the longest legs J) gives the look a young and fresh feeling. Enlarge Image

Ellinor: Photographed outside the Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair show at the City Hall. Ellinor is probably one of Scandinavia's most street-style-photograped women. She always stays true to her Swedish roots in outfits with clean, simple lines, sharp tailoring and minimalistic styles. She is the epitome of Scandinavian coolness, and she manages to add drama with her wood bangles and her rock-inspired rings. Enlarge Image
