This is what happens when the fashion set breed.
Jean Paul Gaultier just announced the January 2009 debut of his children's wear line. Launching with about 120 pieces for boys and girls ages 2 to 14, we expect nothing less than gender bending, Baroque-inspired drama for tots. To boot, Danish designer
Henrik Vibskov recently teamed up with high-end pram and stroller line,
Quinny, to produce some highly graphic wheels for the youngens. And with
Acne and
Surface to Air outfitting the kids in printed tees and skinny jeans to adorable results, we got to thinking about other designers who could maximize on this trend for the diminutive. We're thinking
Tsumori Chisato would keep the babies cooing with her brilliant sense of humor and color;
Alexander Wang could produce oversized tees, denim cutoffs, and leather jackets for the baby Erin Wasson's of the world;
Martin Margiela's dower designs are for babies with a more serious side; while
Gareth Pugh's Leigh Bowery inspired-plastic body suits would make it easy to pick your tot out in a crowd. Your take?

Color us shocked, but the Disney-set has often been showing up on the red carpets, in front rows and the tents, as active and we dare say, inspiring participants in the fashion vanguard. Teen Vogue's recent Best Dressed List for October rounded up the evidence, and we were really taken with four tweensters whose personal style appears full-grown.
Emma Watson continues to emerge as a style maven, while
Dakota Fanning surprises us all with a glamourous side that matches her brain age;
Theodora Richards is ever the offspring of fashion and rock-and-roll and
Rihanna continues her reign as pop's princess in bold red. Perhaps the children really are our (fashion) future. (

We couldn't resist the idea of indulging our inner Nancy Drew, and being bundled and belted in one of these 8 awesome
cloaks.
We're thinking cloaks are a perfect alternative to other outerwear stalwarts, and nothing beats the
ease, and dramatic flair, of just tossing one on and disappearing into the night.

Let's face it. It's a jungle out there, and we're not the only ones to take note.
Designers are looking to our furry and feathered friends for inspiration this autumn. As we've reported, animals have made their
mark on jewelry, and we've seen an influx of
graphic face T's, and now we're noticing a blending of trends with clothing and accessories with animal mugs plastered all over them. These pieces are not only adorable and quirky, they're PETA (and
Kate Winslet) friendly nods to critters large and small. Who needs a trip to the zoo when the wild kingdom has taken the fashion world by storm?

The latest trend to catch our eye? Mysterious roving peepers we keep spotting in unexpected places. We love Rachel Comey's eye prints for fall, La Garçonne's Pleasure Principle Totally Wired Tee, and the Gray Melange "Cut It Out" sweatshirt at Marc by Marc Jacobs Men. And the peep show continues with Karl Lagerfeld bags at Chanel (they double as masks revealing only the models' eyes), to pieces like Topshop's All Over Eyes Vest and Rogues Gallery's Winslow T-Shirt. Blink and you might miss it...

Always the horse of a different color, every change in Kate Moss' appearance starts a new trend, even if she's just playing dress up. The model held a pink-themed party for her daughter's sixth birthday, and added a few fuchsia streaks to her own golden tresses. While some questioned if this would surge a new wave in the Manic Panic movement, we wondered, even if her choices are done in jest, does it still somehow tap into the fashion unconscious? We've noticed other stylish types trying out the look recently, too, and not just for the entertainment of little kids. At the Hugo Boss concept store opening, Peaches Geldof rocked fluorescent blue-tipped curls. Jane Aldridge experimented with a periwinkle streak, and COACD captured Katty from New York Models with lavender highlights. Well, we can't deny it; on these girls, the Kool-Aid colors never looked so cool.
PS. Sorry for the Peaches overload!
